Naturopathic Medicine
ABOUT
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on supporting the body's inherent ability to heal itself using natural and less invasive treatments. Naturopathic doctors aim to address the root cause of illness rather than simply treating symptoms, promoting overall wellness and prevention alongside treatment.
Dr. Negin Sayar, Atinama’s Naturopathic Doctor, approaches each patient with an individualized and evidence-based plan. She believes in being an advocate for her patients and empowering them to take an active role in every step of their health journey.
Her clinical philosophy is to work with her patients as partners and to establish treatment plans and health goals as a team. Her number one priority in patient care is to foster a respectful, compassionate, and caring environment where patient-doctor collaboration results in creative, practical, and effective treatment plans that are unique to each patient. She employs various treatment modalities including those outlined below.
TCM Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture is the practice of placing fine needles gently below the skin in specific locations to help restore healthy blood flow. According to Chinese medicine, the body is composed of numerous well documented pathways (channels) in which our energy flows. A blockage to one or more of these channels can manifest as the source of acute pain, or may be the cause of other seemingly unrelated ailments. The goal of acupuncture is to regulate these underlying disharmonies by unblocking these inner pathways. This allows for the relief of symptoms and a greater overall energetic harmony within the body.
Facial Acupuncture
-
As we age, the face naturally loses elasticity causing fine wrinkles and a natural sagging of the skin. In Facial Acupuncture, tiny needles are placed into these lines creating a micro-trauma which activates a healing response within the body. By signaling the body to produce collagen to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, signs of aging can be noticeably reduced.
*Offered by both Dr. Negin, ND and Elisa Nesta, R.Ac.
Cupping Therapy
-
Silicone or glass cups are placed on the body and manipulated gently in multiple directions. This improves mobility, circulation and provides deep relaxation. The ‘circular marks’ left after the treatment are temporary, lasting anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
